Satisfy Big Cravings at Big Plate

Another weekend has come and gone, I hope you guys all had a good one like I did. Here’s one of the reasons why-

Lazy weekends are usually spent lounging around the house, watching downloaded tv series for the week, walking the pup to the park, and then forcing inviting some people to grab a bite to eat somewhere close by. And by “somewhere close”, I mean somewhere along Presidents Avenue in BF. We usually just cruise along the street until we find a suitable place to stuff our faces.

Then we found this
One (really) hungry Saturday with no particular craving besides good food in large quantities, a newish restaurant next to Petron with a yellow green sign that said “Big Plate” caught our eye. The name sounded perfect for our grumbling tummies so we parked hastily and found ourselves a table inside the clean and comfy restaurant.
The interior had a cool avocado green theme
Soon as we settled in one of their big, comfy couches, our server handed us a couple of menus. Skimming through their list of nomz, we found a lot of mouth-watering dishes that made us hungrier than ever. But being the health buffs *coughs* that we are, we were careful in selecting the healthier dishes available. So we ordered this-
The very healthy Crispy Pata (p395 +/-)
A huge chunk of pork leg fried to perfection and served on a big white plate. Big Plate’s Crispy Pata is one of the recommended items on the menu, and for good reason. It might be a staple in most restaurants that serve Filipino dishes, but Big Plate prepared the old favorite with flair. The meat is tasty, juicy, and just the right amount of crispy. Great with steaming white rice. This dish alone is reason enough to make me go back again and again.

Obviously, concern for health went out the window when we decided to order the sinful pata. To make ourselves feel better, we ordered a side of vegetables-

Adobong Kangkong (p85 +/-)
Kangkong leaves swimming in thin sauce of soy and vinegar served on a big plate. Big Plate’s Adobong Kangkong is tasty (although typical) and had a larger serving than usual but susprisingly very reasonably priced.
Since the first time we ate there, I’ve gone back a few times already and every visit was capped off with this delicious creation-
Apple Pie (p75 +/-)
A thick slice of pie made with layers and layers, and more layers of apple chunks.  Big Plate’s delectable apple pie is served warm on a big round plate. Best with vanilla ice cream. I can kiss whoever made this.
Have I mentioned that the plates were big? The plates, the utensils, and the chairs and tables are bigger than average, thus explaining the name of the restaurant. At Big Plate, you get to satisfy big cravings with food that’s big on taste.
